Gutter Installation Cost on Long Island (2026 Guide)

Every gutter quote you get on Long Island will land in one of three price bands. The cheapest will be sectional gutters from a handyman, the most expensive will be a LeafFilter-style national franchise, and somewhere in between is what seamless gutters actually cost when installed by a dedicated gutter crew.

This is what we see across 3,200+ installs since 2014. No averages from other states, no generic national ranges. Real Long Island pricing, broken down by what moves the number.

Seamless aluminum installation: the 80% price band

Standard 5" K-style aluminum in a stock color runs $7-10 per linear foot installed across Nassau and Suffolk. A typical LI colonial has 160-200 linear feet of gutter, which puts most full-house installs in the $1,800-3,200 range.

Capes and ranches with shorter runs and simpler rooflines come in at $1,400-2,400. Larger homes — 2,800+ sq ft with complex rooflines, dormers, and multiple downspouts — run $2,800-4,500.

That price includes: tear-off of existing gutters, disposal, seamless forming on your driveway, hidden hangers every 24 inches, butyl-sealed corners, new downspouts, and fascia inspection. It does NOT include fascia rot repair (variable), gutter guards (add-on), or underground drain work (add-on).

What pushes the number up

Going from 5" to 6" K-style adds $2-3 per linear foot for the larger coil and heavier hangers — roughly $300-500 on a typical home. Worth it if you have chronic overflow or heavy tree cover.

Upgrading downspouts from 2x3 to 3x4 adds $125-175 per run. On a colonial with 5 downspouts that's $600-875 extra. This adds 50% more drainage capacity and is the single highest-ROI upgrade for homes with foundation moisture.

Custom (non-stock) colors run $1-2 extra per linear foot and add 2-3 weeks to the lead time. Every major manufacturer's "architectural" color series falls in this band.

Fascia repair — if your current gutters are detaching due to rotten fascia — runs $180-450 for a 4-16 ft section. About 30% of gutter replacements on LI need at least some fascia work.

Copper installation: the 10% premium category

16oz cold-rolled copper in K-style runs $28-38 per linear foot on Long Island. Half-round copper — the profile used on genuine Tudors and Colonial Revivals — runs $35-45 per linear foot. Typical Tudor installs land in the $4,500-10,000 range.

Copper is 3-4x aluminum because: the coil itself is 8-10x the raw material cost, every seam gets hand-soldered (slower install), and the hangers are bronze. Lifespan is 50+ years vs. 30-40 for aluminum, and the patina is considered desirable.

If your home is pre-1950 with its original copper — or if it's a high-end contemporary where the architect specified it — copper is the right call. On a 1970s colonial, aluminum gets you there for 1/3 the cost.

Gutter guards: add-on pricing

Stainless micromesh — the only guard we generally recommend — runs $18-27 per linear foot installed. On a typical 180 lf colonial that's $3,240-4,860 on top of the gutter install itself. LeafFilter quotes the same category of product at $30-40 per linear foot; we install it at lower cost because we're not running national TV ads.

Reverse-curve solid guards run $15-22 per linear foot. They work on 6" gutters but can overshoot in heavy rain. Foam inserts ($6-10 per lf) and plastic screens ($8-14 per lf) we don't recommend — clog within 2-3 years.

How to read a quote

A written gutter quote should itemize: linear feet, gutter gauge (.032 is standard aluminum, .027 is cheap), corner count, downspout count and size, hanger type and spacing, color, guard spec if included, and tear-off/disposal. Any quote without these line items is a handshake, not an estimate.

If a competitor's price is radically lower than ours, 80% of the time the difference is .027 vs. .032 gauge, spike-and-ferrule vs. hidden hangers, or missing fascia inspection. Match the spec before you compare the number.
